Legal Transcription
The need for legal support staff increases with the litigation
processes so prevalent throughout the United States. Administrative law (local,
state, and federal government) requires massive record keeping. Much of that
information is related to record hearings.
NTI’s Legal Transcription program focuses on the activities performed by a legal
transcriptionist in a law firm or other legal setting where documents are to be
converted from the spoken word to the printed form. While the program
mostly prepares students to transcribe the most common legal documents, it also
puts an emphasis on medical terminology and transcription as many national
transcription companies seek cross trained professionals for the medical and
legal industries.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Graduates of the Legal Transcription program will have the knowledge and ability required for entry-level employment in law offices, medical corporations and private transcription businesses. Graduates understand legal terms, their meanings, spelling and pronunciation, and possess practical, hands-on experience in the Legal transcription skills required for this career.
