Health Information Management

Health Information Management is a multi-skilled healthcare profession. Every year healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and physicians' offices demand more highly skilled health information personnel to function as critical members of the healthcare team to help in the storage, retrieval, coding, and processing of medical information.

NTI's Health Information Specialist program provides students with the most up-to-date HIPAA and insurance bylaws, rules, and regulations. Hands-on training and utilization of a computer billing simulation enhance the program and result in a comprehensive understanding of medical coding and billing. This program also features advanced training in medical transcription, terminology, and anatomy and physiology, Mathematics for Business and Finance, and an Introduction to Biology.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The Health Information Management program is designed to prepare students in the health information field. The program gives students the tools to work in a wide variety of health care positions upon graduation, including health information management, Medical coding and billing, with emphasis on electronic health records, medical transcription, health insurance, and consulting.

                           This program also prepares student for national certification.
